Summary: This game is a spin-off of the film Ice Age: The Meltdown, and seen through the eyes of Scrat, the saber-toothed squirrel. Scrat is making his way to finding more and more acorns and assorted nuts as he, like all of the megafauna of the Ice Age, makes it to safety from the oncoming flood. Most of the time the games were only loosely based on the events of the film, but still, they got pretty popular. We're going to be checking out Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, one of these titles based on the movie of the same name. Sid, Manny, and Diego are in big troubles when their habitat starts to meltdown.

In 2006, Vivendi Universal Games, Inc. publishes Ice Age 2: The Meltdown on Windows. This action game is now abandonware and is set in a licensed title, platform and puzzle elements.

i have installed it, i mounted disk 1 and disk 2 when the installer asked me, and i gave to correct path. when i try to launch it after installation it says 'Please insert the 'Ice Age 2' disk labeled 'Disk 1'.' even though disk 1 is mounted. i know it detects that the disc is mounted, because if i eject it, it says 'No CD/DVD-ROM drive found.' instead.

I can install it correctly but when I try to start the game it says no Disk when I have mounted the Iceage2.exe. Am I doing something wrong?

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is almost a direct port of the game that came out with the release of the film. I say almost, because it is about as close of a port you can get to onto a system with a less than standard controller.

The graphics are basically what I remember seeing on the PS2 version. Character models were a little rough and by no means had a huge polygon count, but there was more than enough detail to tell Manny from Ellie (the two mammoths).

The movie's actors reprise their roles for the game; that list includes: Ray Romano (Manny), John Leguizamo (Sid), Denis Leary (Diego), Sean William Scott (Crash), Josh Peck (Eddie), and of course Queen Latifah (Ellie). But since the game doesn't really focus on this group of characters and is more of a side-tale showing what Scrat did during the movie, Chris Wedge's return as the half squirrel, half rat is the most noticeable voice. I just can't get enough of those little squeaks and grunts.
